Many of the organizations that are participating in the 1% campaign have invested in with Shared Interest. This Campaign led by the Social Investment Forum encourages socially responsible investors to place at least 1% of their financial assets in community investments. Over the past twenty years, participants have invested in healthy communities through certificates of deposit and promissory notes with community development financial institutions (CDFIs). Often these organizations have a mix of certificates of deposit covered by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and promissory notes with CDFIs, like Shared Interest.
